Andrew J. Gorman, Ph.D. has over 15 years of pharmaceutical/biotechnology industry experience in R&D and international business development. He began his pharma career at Hoechst Marion Roussel (now Sanofi Aventis) as a Director of Biological Research and a Director of Licensing and Strategic Planning from 1990 - 1998 focusing on the areas of neuroscience and infectious disease. From 1998 - 2001, he was a Director of Licensing at Bristol Myers Squibb responsible for in-licensing preclinical to Phase III compounds in the areas of immunology, inflammation, pulmonary and biologics. He served from 2001-2004 as Chief Business Officer for Chiel Jedang Corporation, a multi-billion dollar conglomerate based in Korea, responsible for all business development activities outside Korea and acquiring specialty pharma products for the SE Asia, Middle East and South American markets. From 2004-2007 he was Vice President of Business Development for Transave, an early stage biotechnology company developing inhaled products to treat lung disease. He was responsible for business development, market research, competitive analysis and market forecasting. At Transave, Dr. Gorman was a member of the senior management team that raised $52 million in a Series C financing. Most recently, he served as Vice President of Business Development for Paramount BioSciences, a global drug development and healthcare investment firm. He was a tenured Associate Professor of Physiology at East Carolina University School of Medicine from 1984-1990 where he taught medical students and conducted basic research in the area of cardiovascular physiology and pharmacology supported by NIH and the American Heart Association. Dr. Gorman has over 35 scientific publications. He received his Ph.D. in Physiology and Pharmacology from the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio and his B.S. in Biology and Mathematics from Baylor University. Dr. Gorman is active in many civic organizations as well as professional organizations such as the Licensing Executive Society, the Pennsylvania BIO and the New Jersey Technology Council.
